The Autism Society of Chicago is an affiliate of the Autism Society of America. For the past 58 years, the Autism Society has connected people to the resources they need through education, advocacy, support, information and referral, and community programming.

What is Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)?
Autism is a complex developmental disorder that is present from birth or emerges very early in a child’s life. It influences fundamental aspects of human behavior including social interactions, communication of thoughts and emotions, creativity, self-control, and the ability to form relationships with others.
While the exact neurobiological causes are still being researched, it is understood that Autism is linked to the activity of certain factors in the developing brain.
